The potteries of Sanford have always been included among the "Seagrove
Area Potteries" because of the immense prestige of the Cole Family
potters, and our nearness to Seagrove.
North Carolina is a state famous nationally for its pottery, and the Cole
family is one
of the most famous of the pottery dynasties in the history of North Carolina
clay.

The legendary A.R. Cole, whose work helped redefine
"traditional" pottery, established this shop in 1934.
Today, his daughters, Neolia and Celia, continue his work.

The pottery they make is highly collectible. Neolia's grandson, Kenneth George, shows great potential for building on traditions of excellence. | |
